Our Classes are for Every Age and Interest!
At Studio V Dance, we believe everyone deserves to experience what comes from learning to dance. Our dance classes are designed to meet your child exactly where they are, whether they're a true beginner or an advanced dancer looking for more.
Tiny Tots (Ages 2 1/2 -3)
Your little one's first dance experience should be magical, not overwhelming. Our 30-minute Tiny Tots classes focus on creative movement that helps toddlers develop ballet basics while learning classroom etiquette, independence, and musicality.

These classes are perfect for busy toddlers who need to move and explore. We keep things fun and age-appropriate, helping your child feel comfortable being away from mom or dad while discovering the joy of dancing to music.
Pre-School & Kindergarten
Ready for something a little more structured? Our Pre-School & Kindergarten students get their very own one-hour class that combines Beginner Tap, Ballet, and Tumbling.

Your child will learn to work with other kids their age and get excited about showing off their new skills at our year-end recital. It's amazing to watch how much confidence they gain when they realize they can really dance!
Grades 1-4
Elementary students love having choices, and we give them plenty. We offer 30-minute classes in Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Acrodance, Hip-Hop, and Musical Theatre. Every class is age-appropriate and gets to perform a routine at the recital.

Students need to take at least 2 classes, which helps them discover what they really love while building a strong foundation in different dance styles. Many of our families find this is when their child's true passion for dance really starts to show.
Grades 5 and Up
Older students get longer 45-minute lessons in our traditional classes of Tap, Ballet, and Jazz. We also offer exciting specialty classes like Hip-Hop, Acrodance, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Pointe. These specialty classes are 30 or 45 minutes long.

Like our younger students, we require dancers to take at least 2 classes. This helps serious dancers build the technique they need while still having fun with friends. Some of our advanced classes require teacher recommendations to make sure students are ready for the challenge.
Private Lessons
Sometimes your child needs that extra attention or wants to work on something specific. Our private lessons give students 30 minutes of one-on-one time with their instructor of choice each week.

Private lessons work great for students who want to catch up quickly, work on specific skills, or just prefer learning in a quieter setting. Dancers Grades 5 and up who demonstrate good attendance and attitude in the classroom.
Dance Styles We Teach
Every dance style has its own personality, and we love helping students discover which ones speak to them. Here's what makes each of our classes special and how they help your child grow as a dancer.

Tap
There's something magical about hearing your child "tap" out rhythms and patterns using their toes, balls of feet, and heels. Tap is fun for all ages and can be performed with or without music, which makes it perfect for kids who love to make noise and create their own beats.

Students learn popular steps like shuffle, flap, cramp roll, and many others. What parents love most is watching their child's face light up when they master a new combination and realize they're making music with their feet.
Jazz
Jazz is often the favorite class for many of our dancers because it includes funk, Broadway, salsa, and classical styles using current upbeat music. If your child loves to move to the music they hear on the radio, they'll probably love jazz.

We use jazz techniques in Musical Theatre, too, so it's a great foundation for students who dream of being on stage. The energy in these classes is contagious, and you'll probably catch your child practicing their jazz moves at home.
Musical Theatre
This is one of our most popular classes, and once you see it in action, you'll understand why. Students get to explore singing, dancing, and acting while learning about shows from Broadway.

Your child really gets to become a star in this energizing class. We love watching quiet students come out of their shell and confident students learn to work as part of an ensemble.
Pointe
Pointe work means rising to the tips of the toes while performing ballet steps. This is what many young dancers dream about, but a strong ballet background is absolutely necessary for safety.

Students must take Ballet and complete our Pre-Pointe Program before they can train on pointe. We don't rush this process because we want to make sure your child's strength and technique are ready for this advanced work.
Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of all dance, and we make sure students learn classical technique that develops form, technique, and grace. Don't worry if your child has never done ballet before, we start with proper body alignment and body placement to help them become clean, versatile dancers.

This isn't just about pretty positions. Ballet builds the strength, flexibility, and discipline that helps students excel in every other dance style they try.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop brings that street-style dance that kids are always asking about. We know parents worry about age-appropriate content, so we make sure all our classes use suitable dance steps and music selection for each age group.

Students love learning the latest moves, and this class always fills up quickly because kids feel so cool learning this popular style.
Acrodance
Students learn fundamental Acrodance skills while building flexibility and strength. This class helps students expand their range of motion while learning safe methods of tumbling.

Safety is our top priority, which is why students are required to take Ballet in addition to Acrodance. The ballet training gives them the strength and control they need to execute tumbling moves safely. Our acrodance instructors are certified in Acrobatics Arts curriculum
Lyrical/Contemporary
These classes are designed for students in Grades 5 and up who have strong technique. Lyrical and Contemporary styles blend Ballet and Jazz and are performed to music with real meaning and passion.

Students are required to take both Ballet and Jazz in addition to Lyrical/Contemporary. This combination helps them express emotions through movement in a way that's truly beautiful to watch.

Frequently Asked Questions
What age should my child start taking dance classes?
We welcome children as young as 2.5 years old in our Tiny Tots program. This is a great age to start because toddlers are naturally musical and love to move. However, children can start dance classes at any age, we have programs for Pre-School through high school and beyond. The best age to start dance classes really depends on your child's individual development and interest level.

What should my child wear to their first dance classes?
For the best experience possible we recommend all dancers should follow our studio dress code with proper attire and proper shoes. We do have some pre-loved shoes available at the studio if you find yourself without shoes for the first day.

How many dance classes should my child take each week?
For our Grades 1-4 and Grades 5+ students, we require a minimum of 2 classes per week. This gives you an hour and 2 different genres and also helps students build proper technique to discover what styles they love most. Younger students in Tiny Tots or Pre-School typically start with just that one class. How many dance classes per week your child should take depends on their age, commitment level, and family schedule.

How do dance classes help with my child's confidence and social development?
Dance classes teach children to express themselves, work with others, and feel proud of their accomplishments. Students learn to take direction, support their classmates, and perform in front of others. Many parents tell us their child stands taller and speaks up more after joining our classes. Dance classes for building confidence offer benefits that extend far beyond just learning to move to music.

Are dance classes safe for young children, especially tumbling and acrobatics?
Yes, when taught properly with safety protocols. Our Acrodance classes focus on safe tumbling methods and require (advanced) students to also take Ballet for the strength and control needed. We never rush students into advanced moves until they're physically and technically ready. Dance class safety for children is our top priority, especially in classes involving tumbling and acrobatic elements.
